High Point

Location: Bradford, England
Architect: John Brunton Partnership
Completed: 1972
Status: 1972 - Present
Brief Overview: High Point was completed in 1972 and originally used as the Yorkshire Building Society headquarters.  Author Owen Hatherley amusingly describes the building as "utterly freakish, the severed head of some Japanese giant robot clad in a West Yorkshire stone aggregate".  Having remained unused for several decades, in 2018 an informal panel met to discuss the future of High Point, including participants from the Braford Civil Society, the Director of the Twentieth Century Society and architectural historian Simon Jenkins.  From their discussion they felt a new use should be found for the building.  A local newspaper ran a poll at the time and 78% of readers voted in favour of demolishing it.

Our concrete sculptures are individually hand cast in solid concrete. This means that each piece will have distinctive markings and minor blemishes due to air bubbles in the concrete. This is a natural part of the material and will mean that no two pieces are ever exactly the same.
