Built as social housing, it was both a bold architectural statement and an experiment in community design. Over time, it has become one of London’s most studied and celebrated Brutalist landmarks.

This model had to get the proportions exactly right. The slender main block, the offset service tower, the rhythm of the windows all needed careful balance in miniature. It’s a design of contrasts: tall yet grounded, open yet enclosed. I wanted the model to carry that same presence in the palm of a hand.

A small cast of a tower that helped define a movement.

Features
• Solid cast concrete, individually hand-poured
• 8cm high, 5.5cm wide, 3cm deep (approx)
• Laser-etched cork base with building name
• Comes gift-boxed for the perfect concrete gift
• Designed, modelled, and finished in the UK

Made for those who’ve lived there, studied it, or admired its uncompromising form from afar.

This model is a tribute to an icon of British social housing and a building whose influence extends far beyond its East London setting.

15% off when you order two or more models

EU customers: please order via my Etsy shop due to customs regulations

Building Information

Location: Poplar, East London, UK
Architect: Ernő Goldfinger
Completed: 1967
Status: Grade II* listed, residential

Brief Overview:
Balfron Tower was built for the Greater London Council as part of a social housing scheme. Its separate service tower, connected to the main block by access bridges, allowed for uninterrupted living space in the residential floors.
