Brutal, unapologetic, and utterly unique, it has stood watch over Birmingham’s railway lines since the 1960s. With its layered concrete massing, deep shadow lines, and fortress-like stance, it remains one of the most distinctive signal boxes ever built in Britain.

It was one of the first models I ever attempted, and one I’ve returned to again and again.
The form is deceptively complex. Each face carries a different rhythm, a different weight. Getting the sharpness right in the casting, especially at this scale, meant starting from scratch more than once. But it was worth it.

Now it’s here.
