The Robarts Library at the University of Toronto, designed by Mathers & Haldenby with Warner, Burns, Toan & Lunde, was completed in 1973. It’s one of North America’s most distinctive Brutalist structures being monumental, sculptural, and unapologetically futuristic. With its bold geometry and fortress-like form, it redefined what a library could be, making space not only for books, but for presence and power.

This model captures its abstract mass and layered depth. The sharply faceted corners, cantilevered tiers, and concrete envelope were carefully scaled and simplified to preserve the building’s unique identity.
