Completed: 1970
Status: State Register for Historic Places
Brief Overview: Between 1968 and 1970 the building was constructed as the headquarters for the Armstrong Rubber Company, who Pirelli purchased on 1988.  In 1999 the site was sold to mall developers, but the project was abandoned and the building lay empty for over a decade.  In 2003 IKEA bought the site, and would demolish a large section of the low rise part of the building to create parking spaces for the new store they built adjacent to the Pirelli Building- upsetting the asymmetrical character of the building.  Various art exhibition occupied the vacant building for periods of time, until in 2019 local architect and developer Becker + Becker purchased the site to convert the building into a "net zero energy boutique hotel and conference center".  On May 16th 2022 the 165 room Hotel Marcel- named after the buildings architect- opened it's doors.

Our concrete sculptures are individually hand cast in solid concrete. This means that each piece will have distinctive markings and minor blemishes due to air bubbles in the concrete. This is a natural part of the material and will mean that no two pieces are ever exactly the same.
