Dorman Long Tower

Location: Redcar, England
Architect:
Completed: 1956
Status: Demolished 2021
Brief Overview:
Dorman Long Tower was an iconic landmark, located at South Bank, Teesside- an important site in the areas industrial heritage- with a global reach.  It was built between 1953-56 and originally used to store coal in the coke process.  Thousands of man and women  worked at the site over the years before production ceased in 2015.  Under pressure of demolition Dorman Long Tower was awarded emergency Grade II Listed status by Historic England on September 10th 2021.  However sadly, amongst accusations of 'cultural vandalism' Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries revoked the listing- allowing demolition to continue as planned.  The Tower was demolished on 19th September 2021.   Brutalism is Dead: Long Live Dorman Long Tower.

ALL EU ORDERS processed through our Etsy Store HERE

Our concrete sculptures are individually hand cast in solid concrete. This means that each piece will have distinctive markings and minor blemishes due to air bubbles in the concrete. This is a natural part of the material and will mean that no two pieces are ever exactly the same.
