PRODUCTS
What are your models made from?

Each piece is cast from a high-detail micro concrete mix — developed after years of testing. It uses fine particles and quick-set cement for crisp detailing, along with additives to improve flow and strength. There’s no generic concrete product here — the mix is handmade, just like everything else.

How do you design your models?

I begin with in-depth research into the building’s architecture and history — collecting blueprints, historical photographs, and any references I can find. If I can visit the site, I will document it myself.

Then I create a 2D digital drawing, followed by a detailed 3D digital model, built from the ground up using architectural software. It’s part research, part sculpture — balancing precision with artistic expression to capture the spirit of the building in miniature form.

How are the models made physically?

Once the design is complete, I use resin 3D printing to produce a master model. This technique builds the model layer by micro-layer in liquid resin, using UV light. It’s a complex, finicky process with plenty of trial and error — especially because I’m printing at the limits of what resin can achieve.

From there, I make a silicone mould around the print, using a careful pouring and pressure-chamber process to ensure the mould captures every last detail.

Why do you use a pressure chamber?

Both the silicone mould and the concrete casting go through pressurisation to eliminate air bubbles and preserve the sharpest details possible. This is part of what makes my models feel so crisp and clean — even when they’re tiny.

Why do your models cost more than mass-produced pieces?

Because they’re not mass-produced. Each model is made with a combination of architectural expertise, hands-on experimentation, digital and analog craft, and fine finishing work. From the research to the sanding — nothing is automated or outsourced. You’re not just buying a model, you’re investing in a piece of micro-architecture with a story, built one layer at a time.

How long does each model take to make?

Each model takes several days from start to finish — not including the months of research, testing, and design development that go into each new building. I also only cast in small batches, and every model is finished by hand, sanded, checked, and set on a custom laser-etched cork base.

Are the models sealed or treated?

No sealants are added — I leave the raw concrete exposed so you can appreciate its natural texture and patina. Each piece will slowly age and wear over time, just like the buildings they represent.

SHIPPING
Do you ship internationally

Yes — I ship worldwide!

If you're ordering from outside the UK, please be aware that customs charges or import taxes may apply when your parcel enters your country. These fees vary depending on your location and are not included in the checkout price — you’ll be responsible for paying any additional customs charges directly to your local authority.

Please also see the FAQ below specifically for EU orders, as these are handled slightly differently due to post-Brexit customs rules.

If you’re unsure about anything, feel free to get in touch before ordering — I’m always happy to help.

Do you ship to the EU?

Yes — but with a small difference.

Due to post-Brexit customs changes, I now handle all EU orders through my Etsy shop, where any applicable customs fees are calculated and collected automatically at checkout. This makes things much smoother for both of us and avoids unexpected costs on delivery.

You'll find a link to the equivalent Etsy listing on each product page — just look for the “Order from the EU?” section.

Why does shipping take 3–4 weeks?

Because each model is made to order. I don’t keep stock — I cast, finish, and pack your piece once you order it. This allows me to give each one the care it deserves and helps reduce waste in my studio.

Do you offer gift packaging?

Yes — every model is packed with care and arrives safely boxed. If you’re sending a gift, let me know at checkout and I’ll include a handwritten note.

WHOLESALE
Can I apply to become a stockist?

We’re always excited to hear from new retailers!

You can find our Wholesale Application Form in the website footer. It’s a short series of questions about your business, and what kind of products you’re interested in stocking. Once you submit your answers to hello@space-play.co.uk, I’ll review and get back to you as soon as possible.

COMMISSIONS
Do you take on corporate commissions

I'm occasionally able to take on commercial commissions, but it depends on the project and my current studio capacity.

If you're a business, organisation, gallery, or architectural practice looking to collaborate on a bespoke miniature or small-batch edition, I’d love to hear more. I approach every commission with the same care and craft as my own collections — which means I only take on a small number each year to ensure quality and focus.

Whether you're looking to commemorate a specific building, develop a site-specific piece, or explore a larger-scale collaboration, you can email your proposal to hello@space-play.co.uk with the subject line Commercial Commission Enquiry.

Please include a brief outline of your project, intended use, timeline, and any visual references you have. I'll review and respond as soon as I can.

Can I request a custom building?

At the moment, I’m not taking on one-off commissions — but I love hearing suggestions for future models. If there’s a Brutalist icon close to your heart, let me know!
