Forton Services, Lancaster

The Forton Services miniature concrete model is made for everyone who points out the tower from the M6. T.P. Bennett & Son built the services in 1965, at the height of Britain's motorway optimism. Its hexagonal Pennine Tower promised a restaurant with a view, and it still marks the journey north for millions of drivers. This concrete model of Forton Services captures the tower and its hexagonal top at 9cm, a playful concrete sculpture for a desk or shelf. It's for road-trippers, Lancashire locals, fans of mid-century roadside architecture and anyone who loves Brutalist architecture with a sense of fun. It's also a gift for the person who always says "there it is" from the passenger seat. Each piece is hand-cast in solid concrete, with its own weight and surface.
