Brief Overview:
The Hollings Building, affectionately known as the “Toast Rack,” was built to house Manchester Metropolitan University’s Domestic Science College. Hollings Building, Manchester

Manchester calls it the Toast Rack, and once you see it you can't unsee it. The Hollings Building miniature concrete model captures Leonard Cecil Howitt's 1960 domestic science college in Fallowfield. Its row of parabolic concrete frames makes one of the most playful silhouettes in British modernist architecture. It's Grade II listed and no longer in university use. This concrete model of the Toast Rack keeps that row of curves at 9cm, a piece of concrete art with a smile built in, made for a desk, shelf or kitchen windowsill. It's for Manchester Metropolitan alumni, Fallowfield locals, architects and anyone who has done a double take on Wilmslow Road. As a gift, it makes people grin. Each miniature concrete building is hand-cast in solid concrete, so no two are the same.
