Returns

You can return unused and undamaged items within 30 days of delivery for a refund, excluding return postage costs.

Brief Overview:
Murray Edwards College, originally founded as New Hall, was created to increase opportunities for women at Cambridge and moved to its purpose-built site on Huntingdon Road in the 1960s. Chamberlin, Powell and Bon arranged the college as a series of low, interconnected blocks framing gardens, courts and the distinctive domed dining hall, with Fountain Court and its water channels at the heart. The ensemble is recognised as a key work of post-war modern architecture in Cambridge and, together with the Women’s Art Collection, gives the college a unique cultural and architectural character.

Making my concrete model

Murray Edwards College, Cambridge

The Murray Edwards College miniature concrete model is made for the women who studied, taught and lived at New Hall, and for anyone who loves Cambridge's quietly radical side. Chamberlin, Powell and Bon built the college on Huntingdon Road in 1964–65 to widen opportunities for women at Cambridge. They arranged gardens and Fountain Court around the white dome of the dining hall, and the college is now Grade II* listed. This concrete model of Murray Edwards College captures that dome and its courts at 9cm, a piece of concrete art for a desk or shelf. It's for alumnae, students and fellows, and for fans of Brutalist architecture who know the Barbican architects' work in London. It makes a meaningful graduation gift. Each piece is hand-cast in solid concrete, heavy and slightly different every time.
