Brief Overview:
My unique and captivating prints showcase the raw, unadorned beauty of Brutalist architecture in all its glory. Whether you're a fan of architecture, design, or simply love the bold and striking aesthetic of Brutalism, these prints are the perfect addition to your collection. It's a great way to add a touch of sophistication and style to your home or office and is sure to be a conversation starter among friends and visitors alike.

My Risograph Prints

I often go hunting for Brutalist buildings and photograph them wherever I can get to them — car parks, bus stations, university towers, housing estates. Some of the ones in this collection have already been demolished.

Photographing them is how I collect them; printing them is how I share them.

I think Risograph suits concrete. It's a stencil process: soy-based ink pushed through a drum one layer at a time, soaking into the paper rather than sitting on top of it in a glossy film. You get grain, texture and gorgeous matte blacks, and small variations from one print to the next that mean no two are quite identical. I think this makes it look and feel more like concrete.

Every print is produced with an independent artisan printer here in the UK, on 170gsm Munken Pure Rough Premium paper. The soy-based inks replace petroleum ones — lower in solvents, easier to recycle — and the press needs no heat to fuse them, so it draws a fraction of the power of a laser machine. This makes all of my prints affordable and eco-friendly.

UEA Student Halls Risograph Print — Ziggurats

If you lived at UEA you had a side: Norfolk Terrace or Suffolk Terrace, and you'd defend it. This risograph print of the UEA student halls takes the ziggurats from the corner, close in, so the stepped concrete stacks away from you like a staircase built for something much larger than students. Lasdun designed them to look out over the broad, and they still do. Printed A3 in black and white on heavy textured paper, the riso grain picks up the weathering in the concrete the way a photograph rarely does. East Anglian Brutalism at its most confident, and a proper graduation gift for anyone who spent three years up there with a kettle and a view. Ready to frame, posted flat in a tube.
