Roger Stevens Building, Leeds

Twenty-five lecture theatres, one sculptural block of concrete. The Roger Stevens Building miniature concrete model is for everyone who sat lectures and exams inside Chamberlin, Powell and Bon's 1970 building at the University of Leeds. The same architects gave London the Barbican. Here they stacked raked lecture halls into interlocking forms, now Grade II listed and among the finest Brutalist architecture on any British campus. This concrete model of the Roger Stevens Building captures that stacked composition at 6cm, a compact desk sculpture for a study or shelf. It's made for Leeds graduates, staff and fans of Yorkshire Brutalism, and it's a graduation gift with character. Each one is hand-cast in solid concrete, heavy and slightly different from the next.
