Some buildings seem to belong to a future imagined decades ago. The Romanita Collective Housing Tower in Chișinău, Moldova, is one of the most extraordinary residential buildings of the late Soviet period. Designed by architect Oleg Vronski and completed in 1986, its slender cylindrical core is surrounded by stacked rings of projecting balconies, giving the tower a form that feels both mechanical and organic. Originally conceived as collective housing, Romanita has become an unmistakable symbol of Chișinău and a cult favourite among admirers of Soviet modernism.
This model was about capturing that remarkable repetition. The circular plan, tightly stacked floors, and projecting balcony rings give Romanita a complexity that changes depending on where you stand. I worked through the proportions carefully so that its distinctive silhouette and vertical rhythm remained clear at miniature scale.

Brief Overview:
Romanita was conceived during the Soviet period as a collective housing building, with compact apartments arranged around a cylindrical core. Its distinctive circular balconies create the stacked, almost floral profile that gave the tower its name, derived from the Romanian word for chamomile. Built during the final years of the Soviet Union, it has since become one of Moldova's best-known examples of late modernist architecture and an enduring landmark on the Chișinău skyline.

My concrete models are made to order and individually hand-cast in solid concrete. This means that each piece will have distinctive markings and textures from the curing process in the concrete. This is a natural part of the material and will mean that no two pieces are ever exactly the same.

My concete models are all made using a fine grain quickset cement with a polymer additive. This gives a good balance between strength and detail casting. However concrete is a brittle material so the models are delicate and can break with impact.

Care Instructions
Concrete is a brittle material so these models are delicate objects. They can be chipped or cracked easily and need to be protected from knocks or falls.
My concrete mix is also not waterproof so you should protected your model from damp and moisture.
Extreme changes in temperature will cause expansion and contraction inside the concrete model potentially leading to cracks forming. Keep your model out of direct sunlight and away from heating systems.
