Model 060: Boston City Hall – Miniature Concrete Model
Hand-cast in fine concrete. Shaped by memory.
Some buildings demand your attention before you even know what they mean.
Boston City Hall is one of them. Monumental and uncompromising, its raw concrete and jutting forms rise above the plaza like a civic fortress. Since its opening in 1968, it has divided opinion, earned praise and criticism in equal measure, and stood firm as a symbol of bold public architecture.
I’ve wanted to capture this one for a long time.
From a distance, it’s blocky and imposing—but up close, it reveals detail after detail: deep shadow lines, cantilevered council chambers, exposed staircases. Shrinking all that honesty into a model small enough for a shelf or desk was a challenge worth every prototype. Now it feels right.
A little piece of Boston’s civic heart—portrayed in mini concrete.
Features
• Solid cast concrete, individually hand-poured
• 8.5cm long, 7cm wide, 4cm high
• Laser-etched cork base with building name
• Comes gift-boxed for the perfect concrete gift

Made for anyone who has stood beneath its overhangs, debated its presence, or just loves the courage of architecture that refuses to hide.
This model works as a quiet statement piece, a reminder of Boston’s spirit, and a tribute to a building that has never apologised for what it is. Sometimes the things that last are the ones that ask us to think again.

Brief Overview:
Boston City Hall stands on Government Center Plaza as one of the boldest examples of Brutalist civic architecture in the United States. Its rugged concrete form and dramatic overhangs house the city’s government offices and council chambers. Controversial from the start, it remains a landmark of 20th-century modernism and an emblem of Boston’s architectural identity.

My concrete sculptures are individually hand cast in solid concrete. This means that each piece will have distinctive markings and minor blemishes due to air bubbles in the concrete. This is a natural part of the material and will mean that no two pieces are ever exactly the same.

Materials
Materials
My concete models are all made using a fine grain quickset cement with a polymer additive. This gives a good balance between strength and detail casting. However concrete is a brittle material so the models are delicate and can break with impact.

Care Instructions
Care Instructions
Concrete is a brittle material so these models are delicate objects. They can be chipped or cracked easily and need to be protected from knocks or falls.
My concrete mix is also not waterproof so you should protected your model from damp and moisture.
Extreme changes in temperature will cause expansion and contraction inside the concrete model potentially leading to cracks forming. Keep your model out of direct sunlight and away from heating systems.
