Muirhead Tower, Birmingham

The Muirhead Tower miniature concrete model is a piece for anyone who spent long hours on its upper floors at the University of Birmingham. Philip Dowson of Arup Associates designed the 16-storey tower in 1971, and its exposed concrete frame and precise window grid still define the Edgbaston campus skyline. This concrete model of Muirhead Tower captures that calm, upright grid at 6cm, a quiet desk sculpture for a study, shelf or office. It's made for University of Birmingham alumni, staff and students, architects who admire Arup's restraint, and lovers of Brutalist architecture on campus. It makes a graduation gift with real meaning. Hand-cast in solid concrete, it has the weight and texture of the building itself, and no two are alike.
