Robarts Library, University of Toronto

Students call it Fort Book, and some swear it looks like a turkey. The Robarts Library miniature concrete model captures the University of Toronto's humanities and social sciences library, completed in 1973 by Mathers & Haldenby with Warner, Burns, Toan & Lunde. Its triangular footprint and massive concrete presence have earned it a cult following and a place among the icons of Canadian Brutalism. This concrete model of Robarts Library captures its angular mass and triangular geometry at 8cm, a desk sculpture for a study or shelf. It's made for University of Toronto alumni who spent too many nights there, Torontonians, and lovers of Brutalist architecture across Canada, and it's a graduation gift with a sense of humour. Each miniature concrete building is hand-cast in solid concrete.
