Model 002_Welbeck Street Car Park – Miniature Concrete Model
Hand-cast in fine concrete. Shaped by memory.

Some buildings stand out by turning the ordinary into something extraordinary.
Welbeck Street Car Park was one of London’s most recognisable hidden landmarks—a multi-storey car park transformed by its geometric concrete diamond façade. Built in the 1970s for department store shoppers in Marylebone, its bold, repeating pattern became a massive icon of British Brutalism.

I knew I had to make this model before the building disappeared.
Before its demolition in 2019, I studied every angle I could, determined to preserve it through portraying it in miniature. Capturing those interlocking concrete diamonds at a scale that made sense was a test of patience and precision. It took trial, error, and a lot of care.

What remains is a small monument to a lost London favourite—solid, tactile, and here to stay.

Features
• Solid cast concrete, individually hand-poured
• 5.5cm long, 5cm wide, 4.5cm high
• Laser-etched cork base with building name
• Comes gift-boxed for the perfect concrete gift
• Designed, modelled, and finished in the UK

Made for those who loved this building for what it was—unexpected, unashamedly bold, and part of the city’s everyday backdrop.
This model keeps its memory alive on a shelf or desk. A conversation piece for anyone who misses its pattern, or for those who believe even a car park can be a work of art when shaped with vision.

Building Information

Location: Marylebone, London, UK
Architect: Michael Blampied & Partners
Completed: 1971
Status: Demolished in 2019
Brief Overview:
Welbeck Street Car Park served as a utilitarian car park for the nearby Debenhams store but gained cult status for its striking diamond-shaped concrete façade panels. Long championed by preservationists and Brutalist enthusiasts, it was ultimately demolished to make way for a hotel—leaving behind photos, memories, and now, a small concrete keepsake.

Please note:

ALL EU ORDERS processed through our Etsy Store HERE

My concrete sculptures are individually hand cast in solid concrete. This means that each piece will have distinctive markings and minor blemishes due to air bubbles in the concrete. This is a natural part of the material and will mean that no two pieces are ever exactly the same.

Materials

My concete models are all made using a fine grain quickset cement with a polymer additive. This gives a good balance between strength and detail casting. However concrete is a brittle material so the models are delicate and can break with impact.

Shipping & Returns

Free standard shipping on all UK orders.

We aim to ship within 30 days but priority shipping can be purchased if you require faster delivery.

You can cancel or return you order at any time. Once I receive the product back undamaged you will receive a full refund (excluding postage).

I do not refund damaged parcels. If your order arrives damaged please contact me immediately to arrange for a replacement.

Care Instructions

Concrete is a brittle material so these models are delicate objects. They can be chipped or cracked easily and need to be protected from knocks or falls.

My concrete mix is also not waterproof so you should protected your model from damp and moisture.

Extreme changes in temperature will cause expansion and contraction inside the concrete model potentially leading to cracks forming. Keep your model out of direct sunlight and away from heating systems.
