I started Spaceplay alone, and in many ways, it still feels like a solo practice, rooted in my own hands, head, and heart. But over the years, I've had the chance to work with some brilliant people. Some have stayed a while, some have moved on to build their own things, but each has left an imprint. I love that. The process of collaborating, learning from others, and seeing how their ideas and energy shape my own. It keeps everything alive.

These days, Spaceplay is still small. Still handmade. But I’m lucky to be surrounded by a few wonderful people who help make the work possible, and better.

Here’s a glimpse into the people and place behind the models.

"It’s where buildings become objects, and ideas
get turned into something you can hold."

the studio

HQ and Base of Operations

The studio is where everything comes together,  from dusty shelves of concrete cast-offs to workbenches crowded with tools, silicone moulds, and half-formed ideas. It’s part workshop, part thinking space, and part logistics hub.

Some days it’s silent and focused. Other days it’s filled with laughter, loud music, or deeps conversations that spiral off into new directions. It’s where buildings become objects, and ideas get turned into something you can hold.

adam

Founder, Designer, Concrete Enthusiast

I founded Spaceplay in 2015, though the ideas behind it have been with me much longer. I’ve worked in architecture for nearly two decades, in big international firms, on small personal projects, and now in this strange and brilliant niche I’ve carved out for myself.

I’m fascinated by the act of making as a way of thinking. There’s nothing more satisfying than taking an idea, testing it, and shaping it into something real. And I REALLY love buildings!

zoi

Architect, Model Maker, Studio Powerhouse

Zoi is a postgraduate architect and a true hands-on talent. She works with me in the studio across every part of the process, from prepping 3D prints and casting models to packing orders and keeping the space running.

Zoi brings focus, precision, and a lot of good energy. We’re often side by side at the bench, puzzling over a tricky commission or solving a tiny detail. She always seems to know how to fix it.

dave

Photographer, Artist, Obscure Car Park Explorer

Dave works with me on all things digital,  from photographing new models to capturing our building visits. He’s got a sharp eye, a steady hand, and a talent for seeing the quiet poetry in raw materials.

His work brings out the atmosphere and story in every image. You can often find us together, wandering a disused underpass or some forgotten stairwell, running our hands along the concrete and muttering about texture.

malika

Writer, Musician, Language Whisperer

Malika is many things. A musician, therapist, and quietly brilliant communicator. She helps me shape the words behind the work, from newsletter drafts to website copy to the systems that help Spaceplay speak clearly.

Her sensitivity to tone and meaning makes every sentence sharper. You’ll usually find us deep in discussion over tea and cake, picking apart the structure of a paragraph or the philosophy behind a caption.
