Central Hall is a multi-purpose performance and lecture building at the University of York. Central Hall, University of York

The Central Hall miniature concrete model is made for everyone who graduated, sat exams or saw a concert inside the University of York's lakeside hall. Andrew Derbyshire of RMJM designed it in 1967. Its angular concrete and glass form rises from the water at Heslington like a spaceship that has settled on campus, and it's now Grade II listed. This concrete model of Central Hall captures its tiered, fan-shaped profile at 8cm, a small architectural sculpture for a desk, shelf or study. It's for York alumni, staff and students, architects who admire post-war campus planning, and lovers of Brutalist architecture, and it makes an ideal graduation gift. Hand-cast in solid concrete, it has real weight, and every one is slightly different.
