Some towers redefine the scale of a city. The MLC Centre in Sydney, designed by Harry Seidler and completed in 1977, was once the tallest reinforced concrete building in the Southern Hemisphere. Its crisp white form, circular shaft, and flared crown gave it a futuristic profile that still dominates the skyline. Both a commercial tower and a public place, it stands as one of Australia’s most important modernist landmarks.
This model captures its pure geometry. The slender octagonal tower, the rhythm of its vertical lines, and the elegant proportions were carefully refined to keep the miniature true to its sculptural clarity. I wanted the cast to hold the same sense of balance and ambition that defines the original.

The MLC Centre was designed by Austrian-born Australian architect Harry Seidler. At 228 metres, it was a record-breaking tower when completed and remains a striking presence in Sydney’s CBD. Its clean cylindrical form, flared crown, and innovative engineering made it a landmark of Australian modernism and an enduring part of the city’s skyline.

My concrete sculptures are individually hand cast in solid concrete. This means that each piece will have distinctive markings and minor blemishes due to air bubbles in the concrete. This is a natural part of the material and will mean that no two pieces are ever exactly the same.

My concete models are all made using a fine grain quickset cement with a polymer additive. This gives a good balance between strength and detail casting. However concrete is a brittle material so the models are delicate and can break with impact.

Care Instructions
Concrete is a brittle material so these models are delicate objects. They can be chipped or cracked easily and need to be protected from knocks or falls.
My concrete mix is also not waterproof so you should protected your model from damp and moisture.
Extreme changes in temperature will cause expansion and contraction inside the concrete model potentially leading to cracks forming. Keep your model out of direct sunlight and away from heating systems.
