Brief Overview:
The Glasgow College of Building and Printing is a landmark of Scottish post-war architecture. Built in 1964 and later merged into the City of Glasgow College, the building’s slender, 14-storey tower and rigid window grid exemplify Brutalist ideals of honesty and strength. Sitting beside the M8, it remains one of the most distinctive and recognisable silhouettes in the city.

Glasgow College of Building and Printing, Glasgow

Generations of Glasgow tradespeople, printers and designers learned their craft in this tower. The Glasgow College of Building and Printing miniature concrete model captures Peter Williams' 1964 design for Wylie, Shanks & Partners, now part of City of Glasgow College and Category B listed. Its slender tower and strict window grid express the honesty Brutalism promised, and it remains one of the most recognisable silhouettes in the city centre. This concrete model of the College of Building and Printing keeps that upright, gridded form at 8cm, ready for a desk, workbench or shelf. It's made for former students, Glasgow locals, and fans of Glasgow Brutalism and Brutalist architecture. It's a thoughtful gift for a tradesperson or designer with Glasgow roots. Each piece is hand-cast in solid concrete.
