Jenaro Valverde Marín Building, San José

The Jenaro Valverde Marín Building miniature concrete model is made for Costa Ricans at home and abroad, and for architects looking beyond the usual canon. Alberto Linner Díaz designed the 1976 headquarters for the Costa Rican Social Security Fund in San José. Its exposed concrete, deep geometric façades and strong civic presence make it one of the most significant buildings of Latin American Brutalism. This concrete model of the Jenaro Valverde Marín Building captures its bold, rhythmic front at 8cm, a piece of concrete art for a desk or shelf. It's for lovers of Latin American modernism and Brutalist architecture, and it's a rare gift for someone with ties to San José. Each piece is hand-cast in solid concrete, with its own texture.
