Brief Overview:
Lauderdale Tower is one of the three 43-storey towers of the Barbican Estate, part of the larger vision by Chamberlin, Powell and Bon. Along with Cromwell and Shakespeare Towers, it is a defining feature of Britain’s most celebrated Brutalist housing development.

Lauderdale Tower, Barbican Estate

If you've watched the Barbican towers catch the evening light, the Lauderdale Tower miniature concrete model brings one of them indoors. Chamberlin, Powell and Bon completed Lauderdale in 1974. Its jagged balcony edges and triangular plan belong to the most recognisable skyline in London Brutalism. This concrete model of Lauderdale Tower is cast 10cm tall, a slim piece of concrete art for a desk, shelf or studio table. It's made for City workers, architects, design lovers and fans of Brutalist architecture. It also makes a considered gift for an architect, or for anyone with a Barbican address. On its own it's a quiet vertical sculpture, and with Cromwell and Shakespeare Towers it becomes the full set. Every miniature concrete building is hand-cast in solid concrete, so each has its own weight and marks.
