Apollo Pavilion
Location: Peterlee, England
Architect: Victor Pasmore
Completed: 1969
Status: Grade II Listed
Brief Overview: As the Consulting Director of Architectural Design of the Peterlee development corporation- Victor Pasmore designed the town around a central piece of public art- the Apollo Pavilion. Pasmore designed the Pavilion- which was named in reference to the optimism of the Apollo Space Program- and described it as 'an architecture and sculpture of purely abstract form through which to walk, in which to linger and on which to play, a free and anonymous monument which, because of its independence, can lift the activity and psychology of an urban housing community on to a universal plane.' The Pavilion has not been without its problems- it was subject to anti-social behaviour which resulted in amendments to restrict access, and it fell into decay. However in 2009 a complete renovation project was completed restoring it to its original design, and in 2011 England Heritage awarded it Grade II Listed status.

Our concrete sculptures are individually hand cast in solid concrete. This means that each piece will have distinctive markings and minor blemishes due to air bubbles in the concrete. This is a natural part of the material and will mean that no two pieces are ever exactly the same.
