Model 056_Centre Point – Miniature Concrete Model
Hand-cast in fine concrete. Shaped by memory.

Some towers seem to hold the story of a whole city in their frame. Centre Point, completed in 1966, was designed by Richard Seifert & Partners and engineered by Pell Frischmann. Standing at the eastern gateway to Oxford Street, it was one of London’s first major post-war skyscrapers and quickly became a symbol of the city’s changing skyline. Its bold concrete lattice façade and rhythmic geometry made it both controversial and celebrated as a monument to modernism at the centre of London life.

This model focuses on its unmistakable facade grid. Each window recess, each vertical bay, and the tower’s balanced proportions were refined at a smaller scale to preserve the rhythm and lightness of Seifert’s original design. I wanted the cast to capture its clarity and confidence.

A small cast of one of London’s defining modernist towers.

• Solid cast concrete, individually hand-poured
• 10cm high, 4.5cm wide, 3cm deep (approx)

Building Information

Location: New Oxford Street, London, UK
Architect: Richard Seifert & Partners
Engineer: Pell Frischmann
Completed: 1966
Status: Grade II listed, mixed-use redevelopment
Brief Overview:
Centre Point is a 34-storey tower originally designed as office space, later converted into apartments. Its reinforced concrete frame and precast grid façade represent one of the boldest examples of London’s 1960s commercial architecture. Once criticised as a symbol of urban inequality, it is now recognised as one of the city’s most important modernist landmarks, marking the centre of London both geographically and culturally.

Please note:

ALL EU ORDERS processed through our Etsy Store HERE

My concrete sculptures are individually hand cast in solid concrete. This means that each piece will have distinctive markings and minor blemishes due to air bubbles in the concrete. This is a natural part of the material and will mean that no two pieces are ever exactly the same.

Materials

My concete models are all made using a fine grain quickset cement with a polymer additive. This gives a good balance between strength and detail casting. However concrete is a brittle material so the models are delicate and can break with impact.

Shipping & Returns

Free standard shipping on all UK orders.

We aim to ship within 30 days but priority shipping can be purchased if you require faster delivery.

You can cancel or return you order at any time. Once I receive the product back undamaged you will receive a full refund (excluding postage).

Care Instructions

Concrete is a brittle material so these models are delicate objects. They can be chipped or cracked easily and need to be protected from knocks or falls.

My concrete mix is also not waterproof so you should protected your model from damp and moisture.

Extreme changes in temperature will cause expansion and contraction inside the concrete model potentially leading to cracks forming. Keep your model out of direct sunlight and away from heating systems.
