Cables Wynd House
Location: Leith, Scotland
Architect: Robert Forbes Hutchinson of Alison & Hutchinson & Partners
Completed: 1965
Status: Category A Listed
Brief Overview: Cables Wynd House- or the Banana block as it is otherwise known due to it's shape- was designed by Robert Forbes Hutchinson of Alison & Hutchinson & Partners. When it opened in 1965 it provided welcome relief from the overcrowding and slum housing conditions that were still a problem at the time. In 2017 it was Category A Listed by Historic Environment Scotland and cited as one of the best pieces of Brutalist architecture in Scotland. The flats are also well known for being the childhood home of Simon "Sick Boy" Williamson in Irvine Welsh's Trainspotting.

Our concrete sculptures are individually hand cast in solid concrete. This means that each piece will have distinctive markings and minor blemishes due to air bubbles in the concrete. This is a natural part of the material and will mean that no two pieces are ever exactly the same.
