Brief Overview: The Rotunda is a cylindrical high-rise tower standing 81 metres (266ft) tall with 25 storeys. Initially it was used as offices, while at podium level was retail space- also featured here was 'The Rotunda Relied' a circular mural work of art by John Poole. The tight site and proximity of the rail network made construction quite unique- with most floors being constructed at ground level- then 'jacked up' into position. It was completed in 1965, and in 1974 a pub at ground level was one of the two pubs targeted in the tragic Birmingham Pub Bombings- where 21 people died and 182 were injured. Suggestions for it to be demolished in the 1980s as part of the Bullring redevelopments proved unpopular, and throughout this time and into the1990s it became iconic with its Coco-Cola advertisement at the top- with it becoming known to many as the Coca-Cola building. In 2000 the Rotunda was Grade II Listed, and in 2004-2008 was refurbished by Urban Splash and Glenn Howells Architects- converting the building to residential apartments.

Our concrete sculptures are individually hand cast in solid concrete. This means that each piece will have distinctive markings and minor blemishes due to air bubbles in the concrete. This is a natural part of the material and will mean that no two pieces are ever exactly the same.

Our concete models are all made using a fine grain quickset cement with a polymer additive. This gives a good balance between strength and detail casting. However concrete is a brittle material and our models are delicate and can break with impact.

You can cancel or return you order at any time. Once we recieve the product back undamaged you will recieve a full refund (excluding postage).

Care Instructions
Concrete is a brittle material and so our models are delicate objects. They can be chipped or cracked easily and so need to be protected from knocks or falls.
Our concrete mix is also not waterproof and so should be protected from damp and moisture
