Brutalism = Beautiful

Brutalist architecture is a significant 20th Century design movement that emerged in the 1950s and peaked in the 1960s and 1970s. Known for its raw concrete structures and bold geometric forms, Brutalism responded to the ostentatious and ornamental designs of earlier styles. Influenced by socialist ideals, it aimed to create affordable, functional public housing and civic buildings. Brutalism emphasises exposed concrete and utilitarian design and reflects a commitment to accessibility and functionality, embodying the egalitarian post-war spirit and captivating enthusiasts of mid-century architecture.
